Parental Advisory

This collection of candid photos was taken during vacation in Miami, Florida. Another experiment in black and white photo edits, this collection captures the feelings of individuals from many different walks of life. The first photo (and my personal favourite) exemplifies the laid back and relaxed feeling of so many Miamians. With no care in the world, the man in the photo basks on the beach in the Florida sun, taking in the sounds of the ocean waves... a feeling to which we all can relate. In my pursuit of capturing the emotions and moments of these strangers, the development of a black and white aesthetic enhanced the voyeuristic nature of these photos. Somehow, desaturating the images exaggerated the anonymity of the subjects and highlighted the care-free emotions and feelings they project. These photos, although vastly different in their composition and sentiment, all depict a similar style evocative of classic album covers. Why this is the case, I am not sure, but the idea prompted me to create the collection of photos grouped together with a 'Parental Advisory' label.
